When Mark and I moved to the Peninsula four years ago, we didn’t know anyone in the area. My parents lived overseas and Mark’s lived in Tennessee, so the initial few months of adjusting to life in Hampton Roads were difficult for this extroverted girl! Before we moved, I asked our wonderful Sunday School class in Knoxville to pray that God would provide an awesome church family for us. The Lord was gracious (He always is!) and gave us an awesome group of friends.
Many in our circle are just like us, having families who live far away. So in the absence of our parents and siblings, aunts and uncles and cousins, we’ve become family to each other. We’ve shared lots of laughter and have shed tears together, and both have cemented life-long friendships.
Yesterday, I had a fun afternoon with Kathryn, Matt, and their girls at Fort Monroe. Kathryn’s sweet Mom, Melanie, is visiting from Texas, so she was able to join in the fun! Mark and I are so blessed to call you our friends, Matt and Kathryn. We love you guys!
